I’m Austin Lees — a life and vocational coach, and the founder of The Good Work.
I work with people at a crossroads: sensing a change, weighing a career move, or trying to find the thread of who they are and what they’re made for. Some come with a decision in front of them. Some come with nothing but restlessness they can’t name yet. Both are good starting points.
How I got here
I’ve been a lot of things. All-state football player. Army combat medic. Founder of a music company. And in every one of them, the same thing kept happening — people came to me for guidance. Not because I had a title, but because they watched me push through my own hard seasons and figured I could help them stand in theirs.
I didn’t choose mentoring. It’s the thing I kept getting pulled back to, no matter what else I was doing. Running my company, I finally saw what I couldn’t unsee: I was spending more time helping people find their direction than doing anything else. So I stopped fighting it and started building around it.
That’s what The Good Work is. Not a career change — a culmination. Every season I’ve lived, good and bad, gathered up and put to work for the people in front of me.
How I work
My approach is simple and unhurried: I ask honest questions, listen closely, and help you discover your next real step rather than prescribing one. I won’t hand you a five-year plan or pretend to have your answers. What I’ll do is help you hear what’s already there — in your story, your strengths, and your sense of what matters — and find the courage to act on it.
Growth isn’t a straight line; it’s a direction. Most people don’t need to be fixed or overhauled — they need someone steady beside them while they figure out what they’re capable of, and then go become it.
What this isn’t
Coaching is not therapy or counseling, and I’m not a licensed mental-health professional. This work is for healthy people who want to move forward. If something surfaces that deserves deeper care, I’ll say so plainly and help you find the right support — that honesty is part of the work too.
